Prof. Kai Deng

Biography :

Dr. Kai Deng is the Director of the Shijiazhuang Technology Innovation Center of Precision Prevention and Control of Birth Defects and Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at Hebei Maternity Hospital, China. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2012, following a Bachelor’s degree in Life Science and Technology from Wuhan University in 2007. Dr. Deng has extensive experience in medical genetics, reproductive medicine, and birth defect prevention. Prior to his current position, he served as Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor at Hubei University of Medicine, while also holding technical leadership roles at the Reproductive Medicine Centre of Shiyan Renmin Hospital. His international academic experience includes appointments as a Visiting Scholar at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and the European Bioinformatics Institute, Cambridge, United Kingdom. His work focuses on medical genetics, genomic medicine, reproductive health, and precision strategies for the prevention and control of birth defects.
